More buyers show interest....

I'm a couple of days behind on this story. Two new potential buyers have risen and shown interest in the Atlanta Braves. Lew Dickey Jr. and Ron Terwilliger are approved by MLB to begin negotiations with Time Warner. Dickey and family own a number of radio stations while Terwillinger is a cheif executive of a multiresidential housing construction firm. Liberty Media has also claimed interest of the Braves. I'll be happy as long as the Braves get out of the corporate ownership and back into the individual ownership.

  • It doesn't relate to the topic at hand, but I haven't had a chance to ask a question I've been meaning to - with the extensions for Cox and JS, where do you think Dayton Moore stands within the organization? By all accounts, he was the heir apparent to the job and happy to wait his turn, but the longer he waits, the more offers for other jobs will come his way. Could he be tempted to move on? Would the Braves make a big push to keep him even though they are locked into JS for...what 2 more years was it?

  • XXX- Good question. We all saw how close Moore was to the Red Sox job. His name will probably be in any pool of upcoming GM jobs over the next 2 years. Yes, he'll be tempted with offers but he has a strong loyalty to the Braves organization as it was shown leaving the Red Sox offer on the table. I think the Braves will do all they can to keep him, but in the end it's his choice. Simply put, if Moore wants to leave he will. I wouldn't blame him but I would love to see him stay.

Frank Wren is another possiblity for GM. He was a finalist for the Reds opening this offseason. Don't count out Bobby Cox either. He seems more of a long shot for GM, but Cox has experience and would likely take some job in the org. after his managerial days.
